description This document summarizes regional experiences related to food systems, gender, and diet quality, as shared during a series of webinars held from October 21 to 24, 2025. The discussions primarily focused on Guatemala, followed by Colombia, and brought together academic institutions and research organizations to reflect on evidence, methodologies, and lessons learned across different contexts. Key topics included the food environment in Colombia; diet quality indices and high-frequency diet quality monitoring experiences in Guatemala, particularly across the eastern, central, and western regions of the country; and the application of similar monitoring approaches among students from the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente (UAO) in Colombia. The Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama (INCAP) contributed evidence on the social determinants of ultra-processed food and sugar-sweetened beverage consumption, while the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (UVG) shared insights on nutrition and food systems within the Guatemalan context. Overall, the webinar series provided a platform for knowledge exchange among regional partners, highlighting the importance of integrating gender perspectives, context-specific data, and innovative monitoring tools to inform policies and interventions aimed at improving diet quality and food systems resilience in Latin America.
