Studies that show that children who spend time in nature together with guiding adults who express care for the environment develop into environmentally caring people, indicate that we need more places where adults and children are given the opportunity to talk about plants and the environment. This thesis aims to examine how the Linneus garden in Slottsträdgården, Malmö, can be designed to encourage conversations about Carl von Linné, and the presence and importance of plants in our everyday life. By using a theory-based method that ensures that every design decision is made based on facts and well-tried theories, the aim is to secure a more reliable result compared to design based only on intuition and personal experience. The work process and final design is presented with text and illustrations . |

Ökad inflyttning till städerna med förtätning och minskade grönytor som följd, gör att barn som växer upp i större städer inte erbjuds tillräckligt med möjligheter att vistas i natur eller naturlika miljöer och riskerar därför att inte få med sig en självklar omsorg för sin omgivning och miljö. Forskning visar att barn som befinner sig i naturlika miljöer tillsammans med en vuxen som uttrycker uppskattning och hänsyn för miljön kan bidra till att barn kan utveckla samma omtanke. Detta indikerar att det behövs fler miljöer där vuxna och barn samtalar om växter och miljön. Arbetet ämnar att undersöka hur Linnéträdgården i Slottsträdgården i Malmö kan utformas för att tillhandahålla rätt förutsättningar för att uppmuntra samtal om Carl von Linné samt växters närvaro och betydelse i människors vardag. Genom att utforma miljön med hjälp av en teoribaserad metod som innebär att varje designbeslut grundas i forskning och beprövade teorier från litteraturstudien, är syftet att uppnå ett mer tillförlitligt resultat jämfört med utformning baserat enbart på egen intuition och erfarenhet.
