The word 'entrepreneur' is originally French. Today, we think of
entrepreneurs, or contractors, as energetic people, who dare to try new
ideas. There are many reasons why people start their own company, but
the most common ones are the wish to fulfil oneself and to be able to
plan one's own time. Many successful contractors have made mistakes
along the road. According to them, it is important to regard mistakes and
failures as experience.
Many times, older landscape architect students inspire younger ones to
take on their own assignments designing gardens. It has often proven to
be an advantage to start the company together with others. When you
are alone, you have no one to bandy new ideas with, and you are forced
to make all decisions by yourself. If you choose to start a company on
your own, a mentor might be an excellent support.
In the autumn of 2006, I started my own company, larsson landskapsdesign.
In connection to this, I made a business plan to create a clear business
profile, for my own sake and for prospective customers. At the same time,
I advertised for customers and one family showed interest. The task to
reshape their garden was accepted and carried out during a couple of
weeks.
Based on the obtained knowledge, this graduation thesis finally provides
advice on how to approach own assignments. There are some important
issues to consider before commencing this project. You have a lot of
freedom, but there are also great demands. No one else will do your
work for you. The result will, thus, to some part reflect the effort made.
Planning and preparation is necessary. |

Detta är ett examensarbete om 20 poäng utfört vid Institutionen för stad och land vid Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet i Uppsala. Huvudsyftet med detta examensarbete är att undersöka hur det är att vara student och samtidigt - vid sidan om studierna - utföra uppdrag och starta eget företag. Dessutom vill jag kunna förmedla dessa kunskaper till andra. Att informera andra människor och få relativt abstrakta saker att bli konkreta är en viktig del av landskapsarkitektens yrkesroll. Ordet entreprenör är från början franskt. Idag menar vi att en entreprenör är en företagsam person som vågar prova nya idéer. Anledningarna till att männsikor startar egna företag är många, dock är de vanligaste orsakerna att man vill förverkliga sig själv och att man vill kunna planera sin egen tid. Många framgångsrika entreprenörer har begått ett flertal misstag på vägen. Enligt dem är det viktigt att se på misstag och misslyckanden som erfarenheter. Många gånger är det äldre studenter på landskapsarkitektprogrammet som inspirerar yngre att utföra egna uppdrag och designa trädgårdar. Ofta visar det sig vara en fördel att vara fler som startar tillsammans. Är man ensam har man ingen att bolla idéer med och dessutom tvingas man fatta alla beslut själv. Om man väljer att starta företag på egen hand kan en mentor vara ett ypperligt stöd. Under hösten 2006 startade jag en egen firma, larsson landskapsdesign. I samband med detta gjorde jag en affärsplan. Detta för att få en tydlig profil för företaget, både för min egen skull och för mina presumtiva kunder. Samtidigt annonserade jag efter kunder och en familj anmälde sitt intresse. Uppdraget att omgestalta deras trädgård antogs och utfördes under några veckor. Med utgångspunkt från de inhämtade kunskaperna ges i detta examensarbete slutligen råd om vad man kan tänka på då man själv utför egna uppdrag. Att tänka efter innan projektet startas är mycket viktigt. Friheten är stor men ställer också stora krav. Det är ingen annan än du som kan göra jobbet åt dig. Därför kommer resultatet att till viss del spegla den arbetsinsats som läggs ner.
