The higher distances (or low plant density), though favorable for optimum development of individual plant characters, did not result “optimum” for higher yields per hectare, thus the level of plant density giving negative and linear response for yield per plant but quadratic response for yield per hectare.
A distance of approximately 25.0 cm between the plants in the row (58–60,000 plants density) resulted the highest yield of over 50.00 quintals per hectare. |
