Description
Summary:The role of the knowledge of the bulk density of the plough layer (or root zone) in converting the results of laboratory analysis to field conditions has been shown. A table of conversion factors for a common range of bulk densities has been prepared. The bulk density, being defined on the basis of the oven-dry mass of the soil can only be related to laboratory analysis reported on the same basis. The knowledge of the bulk density reduces the variation of the chemical and physical evaluation of the soil due to error and it is thus a fundamental measurement for routine soil analysis
