Sumario:A quantitative method is described for determining flowering in coffee. The size of each bloom is estimated visually with the aid of the following scale: 1-25%, 2-50%, 3-75% and 4-100% after a general survey of the planiation. The data on which the method is based were collected in Ciudad Colón, Costa Rica during a ten-year period of observations. It is suggested that the application of this method can provide useful information for a better understanding of the ecological and physiological knowledge on the process of flowering in this perennial crop.
