Se realizó un experimento con el objeto de determinar el efecto de Ia aireación nocturna en Ia conservación de maíz desgranado, cuando se utilizan bajos niveles de aireación y condiciones de aire saturado. El estudio se realizó en tres centros Nacionales de Investigación del ICA: Centro Experimental Tibaitati (2.550 ni.s.n.ni.). Centro Experimental Palmira (1.006 m.s.n.m.) y Centro Experimental Turipana (12 m.s.n.m.), con una temperatura nocturna promedia anual de 6.3 - 18,5 y 21°C, respectivamente. Se realizó Ia lectura de Ia temperatura de Ia masa, humedad y daño en el grano, a diferentes capas de cada silo. Durante la aireación se encontró que las capas inferiores permanecen más frías y húmedas que las superiores: el daño del grano no aumentaba y disminuía el número de insectos vivos.
