Description
Summary:Chapter 6 (Stür, Troung Tan Khanh, and Duncan) analyzes how smallholders in Vietnam were able to transform an extensive traditional livestock production system into a more intensive one, taking advantage of the growing urban demand for high-quality meat. They highlight several factors that contributed to this transition, including a convincing technological innovation, a system-oriented approach with emphasis on capacity strengthening, development of a coalition of local actors supporting the transformation process, and having external and local support over a sufficiently long period of time (a decade in this case).
