Description
Summary:The data were collected as part of M&E to learn about your uptake of processed bean products by consumers and draw perspectives on new bean-based products from research partners. The specific objectives were: 1) assess and consumption of nutrient dense food products promoted by the project; 2) evaluate the potential demand for processed bean-based products, 3) identify drivers of demand for processed bean-based products, 4) examine nutrition knowledge by acquired consumers and 5) analyse the marketing models to increase demand. The survey was hinged on the consumption patterns of processed products from six processors supported under the flagship project. Data comprised of: 1) quality of infrastructure to the community, 2) Household assets and housing characteristics, 3) Adoption and dis-adoption of the bean based processed products, 4) History about product consumption, 5) Groups people within household that consume the product, 6) Market outlets used to access the products, 7) consumers’ perception and attitudes towards the processed bean based products and 8) food items consumed collected on two reference individuals in the household: woman in the reproduction age bracket and a child below age five. Methodology:We collected consumer survey data electronically using handheld tablets equipped with a Computer Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) application. After training our field interviewers on the CAPI system, we pre-tested the survey modules and refined the tools based on the results before launching the full data collection.
