Description
Summary:Within the Fruit and Vegetables for Sustainable and Healthy Diets (FRESH) project, the Institute of Developmental Studies and Colombo Urban Lab have developed an integrated approach to understanding people's lived experiences of their food environments. Central to this approach is the use of Photovoice which is a form of participatory photography that puts the storytelling power into the hands of community members and food vendors. The Institute of Development Studies delivered two trainings on the application of this method, led by Leah Salm, an expert in food environment research. The objective of this training was to build the capacity of the FRESH research teams so they have the skills and knowledge to implement this method across three of the FRESH countries (Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and the Philippines). Each training involved two sessions, with two days in between to complete the interactive food environment activity. The sessions were delivered online, via a mixture of presented content, interactive activities and group discussion. The training was delivered in July 2023, and August 2024 to 18 researchers across six countries.
