Description
Summary:Since 2023, a high-frequency system for monitoring diet quality has been implemented in Guatemala's eastern region using the MEMO platform developed by MrBot Solutions. In 2024, the system expanded to the eastern, western, and central regions, supported by local partners, including ASORECH, Cáritas Zacapa, CUNORI, CUNZAC, CUNOROC, INTECAP, CDRO, Global Communities, and the Acción Cristiana church. Variability in participant response rates was observed, influenced by distrust of messages from unknown WhatsApp numbers and limited internet connectivity. Results indicate that participants from Jocotán, Chiquimula, Zacapa, Guatemala City, Nebaj, Chiantla, San Idelfonso Ixtahuacán, and Aguacatán scored below 10 on the Diet Quality Score (DQS), reflecting unhealthy diets. These findings highlight the need to strengthen the system by broadening the target population and diversifying incentives, ensuring robust data for stakeholders to enhance food security and scaling the system's impact at the national level.
