Auf Grund dieses Befundes konnte die Wirkung der sortenspezifischen Saughemmer auf die Reiszikade nicht festgestellt werden. Es wird angenommen, daß diese unerwartete, sortenunabhängige Saughemmung durch bestimmte Substanzen verursacht wird, die in Pflanzengeweben außerhalb der bevorzugten Saugstellen dieses Insektes lokalisiert sind. Diese Substanzen wurden zur Unterscheidung von sortenspezifischen Saughemmern “generelle Inhibitoren” genannt.Die vorliegende Studie zeigt, daß lösliche Kieselsäure ein Hauptbestandteil der “generellen Inhibitoren” ist, die bei Konzentrationen von 0.0.1 mg Si/ml und höher eine Saughemmung bei der Braunrückigen Reiszikade bewirkte. Es erscheint wahrscheinlich, daß lösliche Kieselsäure eine erhebliche Rolle für das auffallende Saugverhalten der Braunrückigen Reiszikade spielt, das sich ausschließlich auf das Phloem beschränkt. |
