The overviews include ILRI, HOPEA (a regional small scale start-up project for household poultry enterprises in Asia); SEARCAR & D programme; Asia-Pacific region and other global studies. The second session discusses approaches to technology adoption for livestock development, investment for livestock development; adoption of appropriate technologies, adoption strategies, and possible roles for ILRI genetics and genomic research. Topics of discussion of the third session include agroindustrial development, livestock trade and market policies; linking smallholders to emerging markets for livestock products, and markets technologies and smallholder dairy partnerships for research-based development. The fourth session discusses cultural aspects of livestock production and marketing; development of animal identification and movement control, meat production, use of extenders in meat processing, meat commodity diversification and upgrading of meat processing technologies; interventions in animal health, and foot and mouth Disease and Trade. |
