Sumario:This study is part of WP4 of FRESH project which aims at increasing fruits and vegetables production through an end-to-end approach in four countries including Benin. The WP4 interventions focus on post-harvest management and market inclusiveness. Tomatoes record some of the highest postharvest losses in the fruit and vegetable supply chains throughout Sub-Saharan Africa (Sibomana et al., 2016). Tomato loss is a multifaceted problem, influenced by factors such as transport, storage, management practices and the behavior of consumers (Parimi & Chakraborty, 2022). These factors contribute to considerable loss long the tomato the value chain. A literature review was conducted in 2022 and revealed a lack of quantitative data on the fruits and vegetable loss along the value chain, which does not allow for the design of tailored-made interventions. This study was initiated to fill this information gap. The overall objective of this study is to quantify tomato postharvest losses along the value chain.
