This plus trees were later moved to nurseries there they were bred for maximal cone production. Today the genetically improved seedlings are on their third generation. And to get to the third generation the plus trees were crossed with each other, and then the best seedlings from these plus tree crossings with each other. The purpose with this survey was to measure a genetically improved seedling from Skogforsk, called Ekebo Plus and compare that to a Belarusian provenance, which is more commonly used. The results shows that the plants have had a quite equal growth. The larger differences were with the vitality of the seedlings. The Ekebo Plus had been exposed for browsing in larger scale. But the Belarusian seedling has fallen victim for a damage were the leading shoot is dead on almost ½ of the plants.
