description When I began my studies at Gammelkroppa forest school I started to think about an appropriate thesis. There was much discussion about the wild grazing damage during that period. I was at that time a part of Boo property and helped at their great hunts. They had the dual uses of wildlife and forest. I decided that I want to study how big the wild grazing damages are and if we can reduce them. We decided that we should work to reduce the damage and the owner has the goal to a maximum of six per cent of young forest was damaged. I used the Lokaläbin method to measure the grazing damage made during winter. Since then, we looked at ways to create more fodder to wildlife as well as feeding wildlife in older forest to avoid wildlife gather in multi, where they can graze. We carried out Lokaläbin during four springs to see the result. The result was that during the four springs we measured, grazing damage was reduced from 7.2% to 3.1%. We can thus conclude that we have achieved the result which the owner wanted. To reduce grazing damage below six percent. We have achieved this with little funding. Cooperation between the agriculture, forest and wildlife management to work with bringing order to the grazing damage. The result shows that it is possible to combine forestry with high wild populations, this work demonstrates this. If we work to measure and evaluate how we can achieve good results and even follow Swedish act of forestry thirtieth section to culture and nature conservation objectives must weigh as heavy as the production targets.
