The theory is based on a literature review in which various external and internal funding options are being presented. The empirical study has been undertaken through a literature search in various databases.
The essay shows that access to external capital do not differ between rural areas and cities. The study also shows that rural firms are not underperforming and that “the lack of external capital” is not a factor that inhibits the growth of rural businesses. |

Intresset för företag aktiva på landsbygden och deras finansiering har på senare år ökat. I Sverige finns det många olika sorters finansieringskällor att tillgå. Det har däremot rapporterats vid en undersökning utförd av Leif Berndtsson (2003) att det råder brist på externtkapital på landsbygden, vilket hämmar tillväxten. Uppsatsen försöker ge svar till huruvida bristen på externt kapital är en faktor som hämmar landsbygdsföretagens tillväxt. Teorin baseras på en litteraturgenomgång där olika externa och interna finansieringsalternativ presenteras. Den empiriska studien har genomförts via en litteratursökning i olika databaser. Uppsatsen visar att tillgången på externt kapital inte skiljer sig åt mellan landsbygden och staden.
