description The river Selångersån runs through the northern Swedish city of Sundsvall, splitting the city in two as it winds through the valley between Södra- and Norra Stadsberget and out into the Baltic Sea. The river is a national interest of nature conservation but at the same time in the middle of an urban development string for the city, creating a complex situation of development contra conservation of natural environment. This project attempts to create a strategy of landscape urbanism for the area surrounding Selånger Bay, four kilometers upstream along Selångersån. A sensitive wetland, today rather forgotten but with great potential for introducing wild nature as an active part of the city. Or rather, initiating a process where the built environment can infiltrate and enrich the natural environment gradually. A city park in this location to initiate this process could be a joint project of the city’s residents with the scope to become a project in constant development. The idea of the project is to offer a large ecological park and meeting place near the city center. This will be achieved by clarifying the activities and values that already exist in the park, such as the largest living delta i the region, football fields and a medieval church ruin, and by creating new paths. The park is created from a central meeting place with the idea of a delta. The entire park has the logic of a delta with winding walkways on the fields and footbridges in the swamp forest and across the water.

The park is created from a central meeting place with the idea of a delta. The entire park has the logic of a delta with winding walkways on the fields and footbridges in the swamp forest and across the water. 2011-10-16 Second cycle, A2E NonPeerReviewed application/pdf swe https://stud.epsilon.slu.se/3349/1/dehlin_j_111016.pdf Dehlin, Johanna, 2010.
