Vi pratar om förtätning av våra städer och ser den positiva verkan det ger men det ställer samtidigt högre krav på stadsplaneringen. Cykelparkeringar blir en allt viktigare fråga där vi behöver tänka igenom hur man löser det på bästa sätt. Syftet med detta kandidatarbete är att undersöka de positiva effekter ett cykelgarage kan bidra med till stationer och resecentrum. Arbetet är en litteraturstudie och behandlar vad samhället och den enskilda cyklisten kan dra för nytta av cykelgarage och varför vi ska investera i dem. Det avser även att undersöka olika aspekter man bör tänka på vid planering, utformning och drift av ett cykelgarage. I resultatet framkommer att det finns en efterfrågan på cykelgarage. De kan bidra med positiva effekter för samhället genom att få fler personer att cykla och använda sig av kollektivtrafiken. I diskussionen framhålls att cykelgaragen framförallt kan bidra till att öka statusen för cyklismen genom att planerare visar att de prioriterar cyklister.
Abstract:
Bicycle garage is a relatively new element in Swedish city planning. They can raise the standard of bicycle parking and offer service for bicyclists. At stations and travelnodes they are able to increase the number of people using public transports. In a time where city planners are talking about making the cities more dense it is a great task to make good use of the space between the buildings. Therefore bicycle parking is of importance, specially when the numbers of bicyclists are increasing. This bachelor’s thesis aims to investigate positive effects with bicycle garages and why we should invest in them. It will investigate what they can offer the single bicyclist and what they can contribute with for the society. It also focuses on aspects of importance in planning, designing and operating a bicycle garage. It is a comparative literary study. The result shows that there is a market for bicycle garages. They have the capacity to increase the numbers of people using bike and public transports. Thereby it can contribute with positive effects for the society. The discussion part emphasises the posibility of giving priority to the bicycle in infrastructure planning and the good effects it can bring to the society. Bicycle garage can raise the position of the bicycle and make it a more accessible way of travel. |
