Issues such as if a place that displays death has a right to exist in an urban environment or why young people should be involved in the creative process are brought up and discussed in this thesis. The memorial place that the young people contribute to is unique, in some sense, due to it not commemorating any special event or person. The purpose of the memorial is rather to serve the public when larger catastrophes occur or to serve individuals who do not have a grave they can visit to commemorate their loved ones. The idea is to place the memorial in an urban setting in the city of Borås. In this thesis the process that the young people participate in is reported in a form similar to a diary where the reader can follow the developments of the young participants, from how they gain knowledge to how they develop their ideas. Their ideas and discussions are concretized in to two different suggestions which then are analyzed according to known theories concerning usage of space and place.

Detta examensarbete handlar om hur man kan låta ungdomar delta i en kreativ process. Syftet är att se vilka metoder som kan tillämpas för att få dem att nå de kunskapsnivåer de behöver för att kunna bidra till att skapa en minnesplats. Frågor så som om en plats som handlar om döden har rätt att existera i en urban miljö eller varför man bör låta ungdomar delta i den kreativa processen tas upp och diskuteras i detta examensarbete. Den minnesplats som ungdomarna, i detta arbete, bidrar till att skapa är i viss mån unik eftersom den inte hedrar någon speciell händelse eller person. Syftet medminnesplatsen är snarare att fungera om samlingsplats när större katastrofer inträffar eller för individer som inte har en grav att besöka då de vill minnas sina nära och kära. Utgångspunkten ar att minnesplatsen ska finnas tillgänglig för allmänheten i en central del av staden Borås. Detta examensarbete följer den process som ungdomarna deltar i och redovisar den i en dagboksliknande form, där läsaren kan följa de deltagande ungdomarnas utveckling från hur de får kunskap till hur de utvecklar sina idéer. Deras idéer och diskussioner konkretiseras, och presenteras av ungdomarna, som två olika förslag. Slutligen analyseras sedan förslagen i detta examensarbete, enligt kända teorier om användandet av rum och plats.
