Description
Summary:This thesis is studying Stråk* in an urban contexts. This will be achieved through a study of Rosengårdsstråket in Malmö based on the question "What is a Stråk?". Malmö has experienced a major change in the last 15 years. From being an industrial city with economic problems, Malmö is now part of the dynamic Öresund Region, and a knowledge city with great optimism. New parts of the city is about to grow up that reinforces the image of Malmö's new identity. The next step in Malmö's development is to make the city even denser and interconnect the inner city and the suburbs to create a more sustainable city. To cope with the challenge Stråk works as a strategic tool. Rosengårdsstråket, between Möllevången and Rosengård, has been identified as an important Stråk in the development. Today the Stråk works as a communication link for pedestrians and cyclists, but has great potential to develop into an attractive and coherent urban space. By studying the word, historical and current references around the topic a number of principles are presented on how Rosengårdsstråket can be tackled at an early stage. *path, route, thoroughfare, greenway
