| Sumario: | This paper aim to discuss the relation between the landscape architecture in parks and the
politics and ideology of the Soviet union. Firstly, a background about the landscape
architecture and architecture history of Russia is given, together with some important styles
and expressions particularly connected to that time. Then, this paper is being followed up by
the results of a case study, where five different parks from the Soviet union is examined. The
previous literature speaks clearly about how the connection between ideology and architecture
has a strong bond and the architecture and parks built in the Soviet times were all part of the
plan to unite the people of the socialist union. The question of the paper is how and why the
Soviet union built parks for political purposes and will be discussed later in this paper.
Finally, I point out the ambiguity of parks from the Soviet union and if there actually is an
distinct design. However, the parks clearly has a definite relation to the politics of the Soviet
union. |
