description When nursing human patients during hospitalization, the nurse is the one responsible. The nursing is controlled by different models of nursing and careplans, shaped by every patient’s individual needs. This is to guarantee the quality of the care. The veterinary nurse is not ultimately responsible for patient care. It is the veterinary surgeon in charge of the case that is responsible. Models of nursing and careplans are not commonly used in veterinary medicine today. Every single animal hospital has their own routines for nursing the hospitalized patient and the documentation. If you were to introduce similar systems that are used in the nursing of humans, the nursing of our hospitalized animals would be individualized and thereby improved.
