description It's not a secret that most companies strive to get such a high economic return as possible. To successfully engage in a profitable enterprise, there are many elements that come into play. An important element is the motivation of the employees and their work performance. Work motivation is a key factor for the employees to improve their performance and therefore determinant for the successes of the company. This work is a case study in the production at Fresenius Kabi, Uppsala. The work is based on an employee survey that they fill out once a year and the aim is to develop a deeper understanding for these questions and how the employees see on leadership, communication and goal-setting as motivators and how these factors works in the company today. To get this deeper understanding I have used a qualitative approach. I have interviewed eight employees that work in the two departments of the production, the packaging and the filling. I have proceeded from questions from the annual survey and then developed these to get a clearer picture of the answers from the employees. A clearer picture then the one from the survey. The results from the interviews are slightly different than the result from the employee survey. This may be because I had a small sample that can't represent the whole production. The interviews show that the theory not always can practice on everyone. How motivation is built varies from one person to another and there is therefore no theory that always works for motivating everyone in a company. All the three factors that this study is based on is an important part for motivating the employees. But to achieve the best performance, these factors need to be supplemented by some additional factors. An important source of motivation among the employees is the community at work and the opportunity to further development.
