This bachelor’s thesis tries to uncover the effects of market forces on the urban space in Hyllie, and how this is materialized in actual space. The thesis relies on theory based on the Marxist academic tradition, adhering academics such as David Harvey and Hénri Lefebvre. This thesis intend to inquire as to how the power systems in the urban landscape work, i.e. who will benefit from them. The conclusion of this paper is that Hyllie, to some extent is a space whose main goal is the accumulation of capital and investment, which has real effects on the living conditions of its inhabitants. An example of these effects would be inclinatory towards investment generation, as shopping centre and parking, in lieu of space benefactory for the populous. This paints a picture of Hyllie as an urban district where business ideals have created an urban structure whose benefactor is the accumulation of capital.
