We often get enlighten by the urbanization and its affects in larger cities. The consequences of the urbanization for rural areas are rarely noticed, which are the foundation of this paper. The problem adopts a perspective from the northern point of view which means that more than just the population issue must be considered, such as climate and hardiness. The reason why this paper has received this specific focus is based on my own references and experiences though I am born and raised in Kramfors, Västernorrland county.
With a conscious design and a hardy and well- adapted plant material, the ambition has been to create a place where people want to be kept and with a desired outcome of increased trading, a sense of security and social interaction in the city of Kramfors. |

Detta kandidatarbete behandlar ämnen såsom avbefolkningsbygden och dess ekonomiska påföljder, torget som fenomen och växtmaterial för ett härdigare klimat för att i slutet av arbetet sammanställa ett gestaltningsförslag för Kramfors torg varpå baseras på de teorier som framkommit under arbetets litteraturstudier och observationer. De är inte sällan vi upplyses om urbaniseringens frammarsch och hur denna förtätning påverkar våra större städer. Mer sällan uppmärksammas urbaniseringens konsekvenser för landsbygden vilket ligger till grund till detta arbete. Problemet är vinklat ur ett norrländskt perspektiv vilket gör att mer än avbefolkningens konsekvenser måste tas i beaktning såsom klimat och härdighet. Att arbetet fått denna specifika inriktning baseras på mina egna referenser och erfarenheter då jag är född och uppvuxen i Kramfors, Västernorrlands län.
