During the 1960s large areas of farmland were planted with spruce. Today, these plantations are today ready for final felling.
A response rate of 47.4 percent was obtained on a survey that was sent to 399 landowners asking about planting seedlings on unused farmland. One goal of the survey was to examine the main arguments for, and against this practice. Another aim of this study was to investigate if different groups of people were more positive than others regarding forest plantations on farmland.
In general, landowners living in a landscape dominated by agriculture were more positive towards planting trees on farmland than landowners living in a landscape dominated by forest. |
