To maintain a good ensilage the covering of the ensilage must be carefully made. An unsuccessful covering causes mould to grow in the ensilage, which both increases the work load and also increases the amount of feed which is wasted. A bigger amount of spoiled feed also increases the risk of feeding spoiled feed to the cattle.
Both the nutritional and hygienic quality is crucial to a high milk yield and a good health in your stock. If the silage process is unsuccessful you may have to use this feed during the whole season, just because you don't have anything else to use for silage. These are the reasons why you must be very careful when you cover the ensilage, to avoid this.
With this paper I wanted to find out which qualities that are most important in a silo plastic for the covering of the ensilage, and which covering method you should use to minimize the risk for an untight storage.
To find these things out I made 48 phone interviews with farmers with a bunker silo. In these interviews I made an evaluation for Lantmännen economic association
regarding their silo plastic called "Triosun", and complemented this with questions in how they covered their silos and what they used to weigh down the silo plastic with.
My conclusion are that most farmers are pleased with Lantmännens silo plastic "Triosun" and especially its elasticity. Most farmers considered that you should cover the floor and walls in the bunker silo with silo plastic and use sand to weigh down the silo plastic. This is more efficient even though this is one of the more laborious methods. |

I takt med att vi i framtiden kommer att få se ökade kostnader för kraftfoder blir det allt viktigare att kunna producera och utfodra ett högkvalitativt ensilage. För att lyckas med detta krävs att man förutom att kunna skörda ett bra foder även måste kunna lagra detta så att det inte försämras under lagringstiden. Detta kräver en noggrann täckning med lämpliga material och metoder. En misslyckad täckning medför att man får mögligt foder som måste sorteras bort vilket både leder till foderspill och merarbete. Dessutom ökar risken att dåligt foder kommer med in till djuren. Både ensilagets näringsmässiga och hygieniska kvalitet är avgörande för en hög mjölkavkastning och en bra djurhälsa. Om man misslyckas med ensileringen så får man hålla tillgodo med detta foder under hela säsongen eftersom man oftast inte har något annat alternativ. Det är därför väldigt viktigt att man är mycket noga för att undvika detta. Jag ville med detta arbete ta reda på vilka egenskaper som är viktigast hos en plansilotäckfolie samt vilket tillvägagångssätt vid täckningen som är säkrast för att minimera risken för otät lagring. För att ta reda på detta genomförde jag 48 stycken telefonintervjuer med lantbrukare som har plansilo. Jag gjorde dels en utvärdering åt Lantmännen Lantbruk av en plansilotäckfolie som de säljer som heter ”Triosun” och dels ställde jag några frågor om hur de gick tillväga när de täckte sina plansilor samt vad de lade uppe på täckfolien. Det jag kom fram till var att de flesta var nöjda med Lantmännens plansilotäckfolie ”Triosun” och då främst med dess elasticitet.
