Effects of rock climbing on the cliff-face vegetation on Ålandsklipporna, Uppsala, Sweden
Ålandsklipporna was a popular climbing crag outside of Uppsala in the 1980's and the 1990's. In 1999 a fire took place in the area and the site was closed for climbing during two years. Due to the closure, the area was forgotten by the climbing community and the climbing at the crag dramatically decreased. Just before the fire M. Lundstedt sampled the lichen and moss vegetation of the cliff-face on Ålandsklipporna. The aim of this study was to do a new sampling of the area and compare the results with M. Lundstedts results to see how the decrease in climbing pressure due to the closure of the site in 1999 have affected the lichen and moss vegetation of the cliff-face. The results show that the climbing pressure negatively affected the abundance of lichen and mosses on popular climbing routes of Ålandsklipporna. Since the climbing-pressure of the area came to an end in 1999 the vegetation on the cliff-face has returned to its natural condition. Climbing did not affect the number of species on the routes. Some species like Lecanora polytropa were positively affected by climbing and the abundance of other species, such as Umbilicaria polyphylla were negatively affected. |

Dalanavellaven, Umbilicaria subglabra är endast känd från en växtplats i Sverige. Laven är upptagen i Sveriges rödlista som Försvunnen (RE). Syftet med den här studien var att finna laven. Jag har med hjälp av klätterutrustning inventerat den kända växtplatsen, Lybergsgnupens hammare i Lybergsgnupens naturreservat i Dalarna och har konstaterat att U. subglabra inte längre växer på den aktuella lokalen. På klippan växte elva andra arter av navellavar. För dessa arter gjordes en populationsuppskattning genom provyteanalys. U. subglabra återfanns inte heller på någon av de tre andra lokaler som undersöktes i syfte att finna laven. Laven bör eftersökas på fler diabasberg med en östvänd hammare som också härbärgerar U. leiocarpa och U. rigida. Klättringens påverkan på lav- och mossvegetationen på Ålandsklipporna utanför Uppsala 1999 inventerade M. Lundstedt Ålandsklipporna utanför Uppsala. Strax efter denna inventering utbröt en brand i området som resulterade i ett totalförbud för klättring i området. Förbudet varade i två år. Under tiden hann klipporna falla i glömska vilket har gjort att klättringen på klipporna drastiskt minskat. Syftet med studien var att se hur klättringen påverkat lav- och mossfloran på klippväggen. Genom att utföra en ny inventering av klipporna och jämföra data med M. Lundstedts inventeringsresultat har jag konstaterat att klippklättring haft en negativ påverkan på lav- och mossfloran längs en del av klippan som det klättrades ofta på. Klättringen har inte påverkat artantalet på klippan. Vissa arter som exempelvis Lecanora polytropa verkar gynnas av klättring medan förekomsten av andra arter som exempelvis Umbilicaria polyphylla påverkas negativt.
