Examensarbetet innehåller dels en generell beskrivning av släktet Helleborus och tar dessutom upp 17 arter som beskrivs var för sig. Beskrivningarna är kortfattade och gör inga anspråk på att vara heltäckande. Ett antal skadedjur och sjukdomar som angriper släktet redovisas i ett eget kapitel för att därefter följas av en kort sammanställning av förökningsmetoder och förädling av släktet.
