The first part is mainly based on literature studies, but also interviews with growers and breeders from Sweden, USA, Holland and Germany.
The second part describes Swedish horticultural companies, their assortment, its content and volume. Factors affecting the assortment such as demand, marketing and type of customers etc are also taken into account. This part also describes how the companies in Sweden are growing daylilies. The result is mainly based on interviews with horticultural companies in Sweden which grow or sell daylilies. |

Examensarbetets syfte är att beskriva växtslaget daglilja och handelskedjan från växtförädlare till säljföretag men med tyngdpunkt på den svenska marknaden. Första delen av arbetet beskriver dagliljans biologi, dess botanik, växtförädling, odling och skadegörare samt sjukdomar. Här beskrivs även tobacco ringspot nepovirus som nu har bekräftats på daglilja i Sverige. Eftersom daglilja till största del förädlas i Florida tas även ämnen som härdighet och påverkan av klimat upp. Denna del bygger till största delen på litteraturstudier, men även på intervjuer med odlare och växtförädlare i Sverige, USA, Holland och Tyskland. Den andra delen beskriver de svenska trädgårdsföretagen, deras sortiments innehåll och storlek. Även faktorer som påverkar sortimentet och försäljningen så som efterfrågan, marknadsföring och kundtyp m.m. behandlas. Denna del beskriver även på vilket sätt odlingsföretagen odlar.
