| Sumario: | This final project includes an analysis and a programme proposal for the
area Bergsbrunna södra. The area is situated along the railway between
Uppsala – Stockholm, just south of Uppsala city. A new railway station is
planned here, which make the area attractive as residential area.
There are several values to take into consideration when developing an
area. An extensive analysis and valuation may define and protect different
characters and values, and also find the places most suitable to build
upon.
The area consists of three separate characters of landscape: the wide open
cultivated fields, the hilly wooden ground and the more varying little valley.
There are visual, cultural, social and ecological values to preserve.
The south part of the area is woods with high natural values that borders
to a national park in the natural forest of Lunsen. Large parts of the area
have been cultivated for a long time and thre still is a farm. There are
several traces of the history in the landscape. The farmbuildings and their
close surroundings clearly shows how the area has been used. The people
living in housing areas next to the farm use the old gravel roads for walking
in the recreative and aesthetically attractive surroundings.
When planning the area consideration also must be taken to Uppsala city's
vision of "the town on the plain". The open plain and the clearly visible
border between town and countryside are of importance. It also motivates
why vegetation boundarys should be protected.
A structural plan with drafts and guidelines for Bergsbrunna södra, on the
basis of the analysis, has been developed. The plan presents two separate
housing areas with different characters.
• One is called "The block city" and is placed on the flat open
agricultural area next to the railroad. The quarters are a checked
pattern in a small scale. There are both one-family houses, twofamily
houses and buildings with several households. The character
proposal is a small town, where the streets are important social
areas.
• The other area is called "The natural city". It is situated in the pine
wood. The natural character gives the structure to this area. The
roads follow the terrain and the buildings are carefully placed on
the hilly grounds. The goal is to keep the natural character and
enhance the impression of the terrain. |
