The job requestor wanted to know how well the result concerning creation and
preserving of the biological diversity in connections with clear cutting correspond
to the requirements that FSC sets on certified companies. No FSC- certified real
estate was included in the study.
After performed inventory and summary of the material the result show that sixtyseven
percent of the performed clear cutting sites validated according to FSC: s
requirements. The remaining thirty-three percent, which is six clear cutting sites,
did not cope with the requirement due to reasons that varies from case to case. On
one of the sites it had became large and deep damages on the ground on the basis
road to the cutting site and also ground damages on the cutting site from the
machines and that it was too few natureconservationtrees left on the cutting site.
On other sites the grade could have been increased if there hade been left more
high stubbles with associated tops and eternity trees or environment trees on or in
connection with the cutting site.
When you look at the different factors that influence the grade the consideration
requiring the measures as logging by sensitive biotopes, leaving of protection
zones, considerations by culture remains, considerations by flora - and fauna
premises most of the time got high grades. When you look at ground damages and
water care there have been cutting sites with full consideration taken and also such
where the considerations have been poor. A mount of saved trees and dead wood
as one may think will bee the simplest factors to influence have been those who
got the poorest grade.
Since there are nine different factors that enters into the evaluation in order to
assess if the site has coped with the requirement in order to become FSC-approved
or not, one or more factors can be rejected if there are other factors with higher
grades. If there is a factor that is non-present before the logging starts none
consideration will be taken to that. In this way an cutting site with few tree species
still can bee approved if the machines has created natural resources as high stubble
with associated tops left on the ground or a group with trees that in the future can
become trees of high value for nature conservation.
On all of the six rejected sites there where rather few consideration factors to take
into consideration but with quite simple means there had been possible to increase
the grade on some off the factors to get a higher final grade. |

Denna studie omfattar arton stycken slutavverkningstrakter utförda av fem olika produktionslag. Avverkningsobjekten är belägna i de fem norrbottenskommunerna Älvsbyn, Piteå, Boden, Luleå och Kalix och ligger spridda ifrån kusten och flera mil in i landet. Uppdragsgivaren ville ha reda på hur resultatet avseende skapande och bevarande av den biologiska mångfalden i samband med slutavverkning stämmer överens med de krav som FSC certifieringen ställer på certifierade företag. Ingen av avverkningarna utfördes på en FSC certifierad fastighet. Efter utförd inventering och sammanställning av materialet så visar resultatet att sextiosju procent av de utförda avverkningarna får godkänt enligt FSC: s krav. Anledningen till att trettiotre procent, vilket motsvarar sex stycken avverkningar, inte klarade kravet var olika från fall till fall. På ett av hyggena så var orsaken att det hade uppstått stora körskador på basvägen till hygget och även körskador ute på hygget samt att det var lämnat för få träd ute på hygget. I de andra fallen hade betyget kunnat höjas om man hade lämnat flera högstubbar med tillhörande topp och stormfastaträd eller miljöträd på eller i anslutning till hygget. Om man tittar på de olika faktorer som påverkar betyget så har de hänsynskrävande åtgärderna såsom avverkning vid känsliga biotoper, lämnande av skyddszoner, hänsyn vid kultur lämningar, hänsyn vid flora- och faunalokaler överlag fått höga betyg. När man tittar på körskador och vattenvård så har det funnits hyggen med full hänsyn tagen och även sådana där hänsynen har varit väldigt dålig. Sparade träd och död ved som man kan tycka ska vara de enklaste faktorerna att påverka har varit de som överlag fått det sämsta betyget. Genom att det finns nio olika faktorer man tittar på för att bedöma om objektet har klarat kravet för att bli FSC-godkänd eller inte så kan en eller flera faktorer vara underkända om det finns andra faktorer med högre betyg. Om det är en faktor som det inte finns något av innan avverkningen startar så tas inte den med i bedömningen om man inte har skapat en sådan. På så sätt kan även ett objekt med trädslagsrena bestånd få godkänt om man skapat naturvärden såsom högstubbar med tillhörande topp som lämnats kvar på backen eller en trädgrupp som i framtiden kan bli naturvärdesträd. På alla de sex underkända objekten var det relativt få hänsynsfaktorer att beakta men med ganska enkla medel hade det gått att höja betyget på några av faktorerna och därmed hade de faktorer som drog ner betyget inte haft samma inverkan på slutbetyget.
