Apart from helping the Parks departement to find an functional method I will also develop a deepened knowledge about users'participation wich can be very useful i my future profession. This work can be divided in three stages. I began by reading literature about users' participation and methods that could be appropriate. Then I chose two methods that I finally used in a residential area with single family hoses in Skellefteå. In this work users are defined as those who are assumed to use those areas and the service that the Parks departement is responsible for. I have chosen to describe five different methods that can be can used when one want to know what users' appriciate in their surroundings and what they would like to see in the future. These methods are questionnaire, focus group, big meeting, walks and Open Space. In the example chapter, I present projects from Göteborg, Malmö and Stockholm that contain users' participation. It is all kinds of projects from green structure planning to a creation of a playground. What the examples have in common is that the municipality has been entierly or partially responsible for the projects and the used methods work in a municipal administration. I chose two methods that complement each other, these were questionnaire and focus group. I chose the questionnaire because it is a relatively simple way of recieving answers from many people at once. The focus group was a way to get deeper and get a personal contact with the users and it was appropriate for the number of participants and the cold time of the year. I implemented the methods on Mobacken, a neighbourhood in Skellefteå. I handed out 181 questionnaires and 49 was returned back, a low percentage share. Three of they who replied on the questionnaire was interested in attending a focus group. Although it was fewer than expected who replied and wanted to attend the focus group I consider the answers interesting and useful. The focus group also led to a increased interest from the residents on Mobacken, who afterwards started an association in order to take care of the existing values and to have a discussion with the Parks departement about the development of the area. On the basis of the results that I recieved from the questionnaire and the focus group I created two proposals for the development of the playgrounds and surroundings on Mobacken. Both proposals included a building of a new big playground in the forest area on Mobacken. I consider that the both methods are possible to use at Parksektionen in the future, but that they also should examine other methods.

Parksektionen, Tekniska kontoret i Skellefteå är i behov av att utveckla brukarnas medverkan i planeringen av parker och lekparker. För att kunna få en sådan rutin att fungera måste man först hitta en metod som kan fungera i den dagliga verksamheten. Mitt arbete syftar till att hitta en sådan metod och genomföra den i praktiken. Förutom att hjälpa Parksektionen att hitta en fungerande metod får jag också en fördjupad kunskap om brukarmedverkan som jag kan ha stor nytta av i mitt kommande yrkesliv. Arbetet kan delas upp i tre etapper. Jag började med att läsa litteratur i ämnet brukarmedverkan och metoder som kunde vara lämpliga. Sedan valde jag ut två metoder som jag slutligen använde i praktiken i ett småhusområde i Skellefteå. Med brukare menas i det här arbetet de som antas nyttja de ytor och den service som Parksektionen ansvarar för. Jag har valt att beskriva fem olika metoder som kan användas för att ta reda på vad brukarna tycker om sin närmiljö och hur de skulle vilja ha den i framtiden. Dessa metoder är enkät, fokusgrupp, stormöte, vandringar och open space. I exempelkapitlet tar jag upp projekt från Göteborg, Malmö och Stockholm som har använt brukarmedverkan. Det är allt från grönstrukturplanering till utformning av en lekplats. Det som exemplen har gemensamt är att kommunen har varit helt eller delvis ansvarig för projekten och metoder har använts som passar en kommunal förvaltning. Jag valde att använda två metoder som kompletterar varandra, dessa var enkät och fokusgrupp. Enkäten valde jag då den är ett relativt enkelt sätt att få svar från flera personer på samma gång och svaranden kan skriva kommentarer som de annars inte vågar framföra inför en grupp. Fokusgruppen var en fördjupning som jag valde för att få ett personligt möte med brukarna och för att det passade med antalet intresserade och den kalla årstiden. Metoderna genomförde jag på Mobacken, ett bostadsområde i Skellefteå kommun. Jag delade ut 181 enkäter och fick 49 tillbaks, vilket var en låg andel svarande. Tre av de som svarat på enkäten var intresserade av att delta i en fokusgrupp. Även om det var färre än förväntat som svarade och ville delta i fokusgruppen anser jag att jag fick ut intressant och användbar information. Dessutom ledde fokusgruppen till ett nyväckt intresse hos de boende på Mobacken, som i efterhand har startat en förening, vars syfte är att ta hand om befintliga värden och föra en diskussion med Parksektionen om utvecklingen av området. Utifrån resultaten som jag fick från enkäten och fokusgruppen gjorde jag två förslag till utveckling av lekplatserna och utemiljön på Mobacken. Båda förslagen innebar att en ny stor lekplats byggs i skogsområdet.
