This thesis is about the camp area Sjöröd, located
by Gyllebosjön (the Gyllebo Lake) on Österlen in
Skåne, southern Sweden. The thesis results in plan
for how the area could be used in the future. It also
raises the questions; what scouting of today is, how it
is to be developed for the future, what a camp is and
which aims the scout movement has set up for itself
and its activities. The thesis also treats what is typical
for Skåne, for Österlen and for the area around
Sjöröd as a starting point. A historical description
is given about Sjöröd's development from the nineteenth
century and ahead. Theories about destination
development among other things are raised as a
support for the development of Sjöröd. In order
to know how the youth of today think about scout
camps, I have done a survey of how some scouts in
different ages and locations in Sweden think about
camps.
An important aspect which many scouts express
in my survey is that the most important thing on a
scout camp is the social part to meet known friends
and strangers. My proposal includes this and wants
Sjöröd to be a meeting point for scouts from far and
near.
Other important aspects are to be able to gather both
in the small group as well as many people together,
that the scouts themselves should participate in
design and performance, the personal development
of the participants, to live everyday life on the camp,
knowledge about the environment and nature and to
practice outdoor life.
To shape a temporary place, which a scout camp
could be said to be, demands that you make the
best use of the place's specific quality. To shape
such a place, with specific qualities that can be used
variously by different future camps and other events
is what this final thesis is concerned about.
The different aspects; scouting, the specific of
Skåne, Sjöröd as a place, theories and the scouts own
opinion are summarised in two policies; one policy
which is common for camp sites in Sweden and one
policy which is specific for Sjöröd. Then the thesis
results in the plan for the area. The proposal makes
Sjöröd the glade in the wood and creates a pattern
of different glades where you can meet other people
both formal and informal. The thesis also includes a
time planning part and a reflective part.
The final thesis can be read by scouts who are
interested in camp and camp development as well
as it can be read and used by other organisation
representatives who are interested in the same matter
as well as landscape architects who want an understanding
of the subject. |

Detta examensarbete handlar om lägerområdet Sjöröd, beläget vid Gyllebosjön på Österlen i Skåne. Examensarbetet landar i en plan för hur området skulle kunna nyttjas i framtiden. Det tar också upp vad scouting är idag, hur det håller på att utvecklas inför framtiden, vad ett läger är samt vilka målsättningar scoutrörelsen själva satt upp för sin verksamhet. Arbetet behandlar även vad som är typiskt för Skåne, för Österlen och för området kring Sjöröd för att kunna ta avstamp i detta. En historisk beskrivning ges av Sjöröds utveckling från 1800-talet och framåt. Teorier om bland annat destinationsutveckling tas upp som stöd för utvecklingen av Sjöröd. För att kunna veta hur dagens unga ser på scoutläger har jag gjort en undersökning av hur ett antal scouter i olika åldrar och på olika platser i Sverige ser på läger. En viktig aspekt som många scouter berättar om i min undersökning är att det viktigaste på ett scoutläger är det sociala, att träffa kända och okända människor. Mitt förslag tar fasta på detta och vill att Sjöröd ska bli en mötesplats för scouter från när och fjärran. Andra viktiga aspekter är att kunna samlas både i den lilla gruppen såväl som många tillsammans, att scouterna själva ska delta i utformande och utförande, lägerdeltagarnas personliga utveckling, att leva vardagsliv på lägret, kunskaper om miljö och natur samt friluftsliv. Att gestalta en tillfällig plats, vilket ett scoutläger kan sägas vara, kräver att man tar till vara platsens specifika egenskaper. Att gestalta en sådan plats, med specifika egenskaper som kan tas till vara på olika sätt till olika framtida läger och andra evenemang är vad detta examensarbete handlar om. De olika aspekterna; scouting, det skånska, Sjörödsom plats, teorier och scouternas egna åsikter sammanfattas i två program. Ett program som är allmänt för lägeranläggningar i Sverige och ett som är specifikt för Sjöröd. Förslaget gör Sjöröd till gläntani skogen och skapar ett system av olika gläntor där man kan mötas formellt och informellt. Därefter landar arbetet i planen. Sedan följer en tidsplanerande och en reflekterande del. Examensarbetet kan läsas av scouter som är intresserade av läger och lägerutveckling men det kan även läsas av och komma till nytta för andra organisationers företrädare som är intresserade av samma frågor eller landskapsarkitekter som önskar få en insyn i frågan.
