description The object of the thesis is to propose a new design for the neighbourhood of Veiberg that is situated in the small Norwegian town Jessheim. My approach was to first make an analysis of the whole community and the structure of the town, and then gradually focus on the actual neighbourhood to continue the research there. On the basis of my research the block will be redesigned. The research will lead to a well-planned design of the neighbourhood, which will adapt it to its surroundings in a sustainable and constructive way. The project will lead you through the history of the town and the intentions and aims of the municipality. The project also examines the structure of the town and the function of the neighbourhood in the town today as well as investigation of the history, the structure and the qualities in the area. On the basis of the investigation a new design of the neighbourhood is created. The design is profiled within history and culture. There are three special areas of the block, which are highlighted. "The Culture Park", "the Grove" and "the Wheel". The three different areas have different functions and different characters. "The Culture Park" is the biggest area in the neighbourhhod and is situated in between the houses. It is a flexible park where exhibitions, activities and cultural events can be held. The buildings, as part of the park, support multiple functions, such as exhibition places an outdoor restaurant and cafeteria. "The Grove" is a smaller and more intimate part of the neighbourhood. The inhabitants can enjoy the flowering fruit trees in the spring and the fresh fruit in the autumn. This is the place for relaxing on the lawn, a hide out from hectic city life. There is a bicycle rack along a wall, which gives the idyllic grove a more practical use as well. "The Wheel" is situated next to "the Grove". A granite bench in shape of a half circle demarcates the two areas. The bench curves around stones in the ground that have been placed to create the pattern of a wheel. The wheel represents a part of the history of the area. On this spot, the carriage wheel workshop of the village was located. The intention of the project is to be an inspiration for the municipality and for the owners of the buildings to develop the environment in the town centre and in this neighbourhood of Veiberg.

The intention of the project is to be an inspiration for the municipality and for the owners of the buildings to develop the environment in the town centre and in this neighbourhood of Veiberg. 2006-08-21 Other NonPeerReviewed application/pdf sv https://stud.epsilon.slu.se/11922/1/therell_l_171115.pdf Therell, Lisa, 2006.
