I think lawn could be an alternative to grain production. Production of lawn do not need as big area and it is a more extensive production that gain bigger profit compared to grain. In this study I have investigated how to produce lawn.
Some of my issues where: what kind of machinery do I need, what is the best kind of soil and how to harvest it. I have also made a calculation that includes costs and profits.
For my research I have used two companies (Skånefrö AB and Weibulls AB), different kind of brochures and a year book from Maskinringen. The calculations shows that it can give a lot of money when producing lawn, but the investments to start producing are big. The production is very sensitive for changing in the market, and there is right now no need fore more producers. When starting a lawn production you have to be careful and consider the fast changes in the market. |

When starting a lawn production you have to be careful and consider the fast changes in the market. Spannmålsproducenterna i Sverige möter en allt tuffare framtid. Konkurrensen hårdnar hela tiden, här i Sverige, inom EU och även från andra aktörer på världsmarknaden. Hela tiden ställs det krav på producenten att både bli effektivare och ha större enheter. Många lantbrukare måste pga konkurrensen därför börja se sig om efter alternativa produktionsgrenar inom sitt företag. I detta examensarbete har jag därför valt att undersöka produktion av färdig gräsmatta, då detta skulle kunna kan vara ett alternativ till spannmålsodling. Gräsmattodling kräver förhållandevis liten areal och är en mycket mer extensiv odling som ger större intäkter per ha. Jag har i detta arbete undersökt hur man ska gå till väga för att producera gräsmatta t ex vilka specialmaskiner som krävs utöver dom man har när man producerar spannmål, vilka jordar som gräset måste ha för att växa och kunna rullas upp etc. Jag har även gjort en kalkyl på vad det kostar att producera gräsmatta och vilken eventuell vinst det ger. Som underlag har jag haft två företag (Skånefrö AB och Weibulls AB), broschyrer och maskinringens årsbok 2004. Mina kalkyler visade att det är relativt lönsamt att producera gräsmatta, men att stora investeringar krävs och därav ett stort eget kapital för att kunna komma igång. Odlingen är väldigt konjunkturkänslig och marknaden ganska mättad vad gäller odlare, därför bör kalkylerna tolkas med viss försiktighet vad gäller lönsamhet och framtida nystartande av gräsmattsproduktion. 2005-11-30 Other NonPeerReviewed application/pdf sv https://stud.epsilon.slu.se/11598/7/svedberg_m_171002.pdf Svedberg, Martin, 2005.
