To reach a pleasant soilbed directly after ploughing is sometimes possible on easier soils but heavier clay soils always need more tillages. There is a lot of equipment mounted on the ploughs on the market, for example Furrow Cracker and Furrow presses, which makes a pleasant soilbed on easier soils. The last year Överum and Kverneland have presented knives which are mounted on the wing or moulboard. The knifes cut the furrowslice before it turns around which makes the soil fall in part. I choose to use the knives from Kverneland in a field trial, because of the many different holes they have to mount the knives in. In the trials I tested four different mountingplaces on the wing and moulboard. After the ploughing the field was soil levelling with float before it was drilled with a Väderstad Rapid drilling machine. The results showed a good degradation on the soil which can save an harrowing. The best result was in the treatment E. The emergence showed differences between some of the experimental treatments. All the experimental treatments had acceptable emergence, probably because of the pleasant germination capacity the autumn of 2003. |

Under de senaste åren har det blivit allt viktigare att reducera antalet överfarter efter plöjning. Maskin- och arbetskostnaderna är höga och man måste därför utnyttja tiden effektivt. Målsättningen för de flesta lantbrukare är att få ett tillfredställande såbruk direkt efter plöjning. Detta är fullt möjligt på lättare jordar, men lerjordar kräver ofta ett flertal efterföljande överfarter. Det finns en mängd olika tillsatsutrustningar för plogar t ex tiltpackare och tiltskärare. Dessa utför emellertid endast ett fullgott arbete på lättare jordar. De senaste åren har plogtillverkarna Överum och Kverneland presenterat så kallade skärknivar som placeras på plogens skär eller vändskiva. Knivarna skär ett snitt i underdelen av tiltan, tiltan vänds och snittet hamnar på ovansidan. Eftersom knivarna arbetar i jorden tvingar de fram en brytning av tiltan, vilket inte alltid sker med tillkopplad tiltskärare eller tiltpackare. I arbetet används Kvernelands skärknivar i ett fältförsök, eftersom dessa kan placeras både på skäret och vändskivan. Överums skärknivar är fastsvetsade på plogskäret, vilket begränsar antalet placeringspunkter. Totalt provades fyra olika placeringar av skärknivarna. Efter plöjning bearbetades försöket med en styvpinnesladd från Väderstad och såddes med en Väderstad Rapid. Genom att den plöjda jorden sönderdelas med hjälp av skärknivarna kan ett jämnt fält erhållas med en harvning mindre än i vanliga fall. En kniv på skäret och en på vändskivan, gav den jämnaste sönderdelningen samt en låg andel växtrester i ytan. Det finns signifikanta skillnader på uppkomsten mellan vissa av försöksleden, alla leden har dock acceptabelt plantantal på våren. Detta troligtvis beroende på de gynnsamma groningsbetingelserna hösten 2003.
