The first questionnaire was send to 46 Christmas tree suppliers in southern Sweden. The second questionnaire was send to 77 forest owners in the same area were the Christmas tree suppliers plantations was located. The reason why I made two questionnaires was because it would be interesting to see the differences between how the two groups of landowners use their estate. The first questionnaire showed that the Christmas tree suppliers were not satisfied with the plant material. They also wanted courses and literature about how to produce Christmas trees. The Christmas tree suppliers claimed that it was very profitable to produce Christmas trees, but they had to put a lot of work into it. The questionnaire to the forest owners showed that there wasn't such a big interest to produce Christmas trees. Many of the forest owners believed that it wasn't so profitable to produce Christmas trees, they also thought that it was too much work. The case survey contained two calculations, one over a plantation with Picea abies and the other one over a plantation with Abies nordmanniana. The calculations were based on material from a real Christmas tree plantation in southern Sweden. Both calculations showed that it is very profitable to produce Christmas trees, depending on how good you manage your Christmas tree plantation. |

Det primära syftet med examensarbetet var att undersöka om det är lönsamt att odla julgranar i Sverige. Ett delsyfte var att undersöka vilka julgransarter som efterfrågas mest i Sverige. Ytterligare ett delsyfte var att undersöka om julgransodlarna var nöjda med det befintliga plantutbudet. För att få fram detta gjordes ett antal intervjuer, 2 enkäter och en fallstudie. Skattning av utbudet julgranar I Sverige finns det 4,3 miljoner hushåll och av dessa är det ca 3 miljoner som köper julgranar. Man beräknar att ca 2,8 miljoner av julgranarna har sitt ursprung i Sverige och att de resterande ca 200 000 importeras och då främst från Danmark. 80 % av julgransmarknaden består av rödgran (vanlig gran). Importen består främst av ädelgran. Enkät Julgransodlare Ett delsyfte med examensarbetet var att undersöka vilka julgransarter som odlas av julgransodlarna i Sverige och om deras julgransodlingar var lönsamma. För att undersöka detta skickades en enkät ut till 46 julgransodlare. Samtliga var medlemmar i Sydsveriges julgran och pyntegröntodlarförening. Enkäten bestod av 19 frågor; allt från allmänna frågor om �hur gamla de svarande var�, till frågor om ekonomi, såsom �hur lönsam min julgransodling är�. De flesta av julgransodlarna ansåg att deras julgransodlingar uppvisade en bra lönsamhet med en avkastning på ungefär 10-15 %. De tyckte däremot att det var svårt att få fram ett jämnt bestånd, många granar gick inte att sälja, vilket resulterade i ett dåligt utbyte. Det befintliga plantmaterialet i Sverige tyckte flertalet av de svarande var relativt dåligt. Man vill ha härdigare arter som klarar av vårfrosten bättre och arter som blir tätare och jämnare i formen. Många av julgransodlarna ansåg att det största problemet med julgransodling är att det saknas kunskap om hur man bäst sköter sin odling. Man vill främst ha hjälp i form av rådgivning, litteratur och kurser. Enkät Icke julgransodlare Syftet med denna enkät var att jämföra markanvändning och attityder till julgransodling i samma kommun. Enkäten bestod av 10 frågor varav de första sex var allmänna frågor. Många av de som svarat på enkäten tyckte att det viktigaste för dem var lönsamheten och tiden. De flesta svarande tyckte att julgransodlingen skulle ta för mycket tid i anspråk. Om de svarande skulle börja odla julgranar var det viktigt att det var lönsamt. Intervju Intervjun skulle ge klarhet i de frågeställningar som uppkom efter enkäterna. En plantskola intervjuades för att se vilka fördelar och nackdelar de tycker finns i sammanband med odling av julgranar. Till skillnad från julgransodlarna var plantskolans ägare relativt nöjd med det befintliga plantmaterialet. Plantmaterialet köptes främst från Danmark. Något som dock önskades förbättras var att anpassa Abies nordmannia till vårt svenska klimat, då den har svårt att invintra i det ojämna vinterklimatet i södra Sverige. Fallstudie Fallstudien består av två kalkyler, dels över vanlig gran, dels över nordmannsgran. Siffrorna som kalkylerna baseras på är från en julgransodlare i södra Sverige som odlar julgranar på heltid. Fallstudierna visar att det är lönsamt att odla julgranar på nedlagd åkermark (åkermark med låg bonitet) i Sverige om man sköter julgransodlingen på rätt sätt.
