I have also attempted to estimate the frequency of the diseases among the Swedish Bernese Mountain Dogs and investigate if they appear to be more common among certain families. De histiocytära sjukdomarna är i allmänhet ovanliga hos hundar och man vet inte så mycket om dem. Sjukdomskomplexet, som omfattar både en reaktiv form och en tumörform, är dock vanligt hos ett fåtal raser, bland annat Berner Sennenhunden. Då litteraturen är väldigt kortfattad vad gäller de histiocytära sjukdomarna har jag i detta examensarbete gjort en sammanställning av det man vet om sjukdomarna idag. Jag har även försökt få en uppfattning om hur vanliga sjukdomarna är hos Berner Sennenhundar i Sverige och undersöka om de förekommer mer frekvent i vissa familjer.
