Ökade kostnader vid aptering av tremeters massaved jämfört med fallande längder

description The purpose of this project was to investigate how logging costs change when pulpwood is cut into 3.0 meter lengths compared to bucking in variable lengths of 3.0 to 5.5 meters. An in-depth analysis was performed on data provided by Sveaskog’s Växjö office for 41 different tracts, representing a total cut volume of 41 114 m3fub. Total costs for the harvester and forwarder in final felling were estimated to be 71.87 SEK/m3fub when pulpwood was cut into 3.0 meter lengths and 73.78 SEK/m3fub when variable lengths were used. The corresponding numbers in thinning were 190.30 SEK/m3fub and 157.58 SEK/m3fub respectively. As expected, it was more expensive to cut pulpwood in 3.0 meter lengths compared to variable lengths.
