The document explains that the Seminar's aim was to examine the PLANLAC and what has taken place since its conception by Ministers of Agriculture of the hemisphere when they met in Ottawa, Canada in 1987. It also looks at the relationship between agriculture and the media and examines the images which we conjure up when we think of agriculture. The involvement of communications in agricultural modernization and reactivation is analyzed. Section one and two review the challenges for participation in international markets; and discusses alternatives for the future. Section three proposes the creation of a new business environment for investment in agriculture for farmers and entrepreneurs. Section four and five discusses the role of the media, public communications methodology and information dissemination by the media. El documento explica que el objetivo del Seminario fue examinar el PLANALC y lo que ha sucedido desde su concepción por los Ministros de Agricultura del hemisferio cuando se reunieron en Ottawa, Canadá, en 1987. También examina la relación entre agricultura y medios de comunicación. y examina las imágenes que evocamos cuando pensamos en la agricultura. Se analiza la implicación de las comunicaciones en la modernización y reactivación agraria. Las secciones uno y dos revisan los desafíos para participar en los mercados internacionales; y discutir alternativas para el futuro. La tercera sección propone la creación de un nuevo entorno empresarial para la inversión en agricultura para agricultores y empresarios.
