Summary: | The main activities carried out by the Institute in Jamaica during 2017 are identified, with respect to the needs and interests of the country, strengthening issues such as livestock, technology, sustainability, silvopastoralism, governance, exports, family farming, innovation, agrotourism, health and food safety, through the Codex Alimentarius and resilience against climate change. Likewise, work was done on land management, on the use of pesticides and the management of their residues, on strengthening the sweet potato production chain and on the control of pests, such as the sweet potato weevil, coffee rust and the Frosty Pod Broken (FPR) of cocoa. Finally, agroforestry management was supported.
