The initiative will be implemented by IICA and focuses on establishing the legality assurance system (GTLAS), strengthening the participation of key stakeholders, and improving information exchange. It has a duration of 39 months and is funded by the EU with EUR 2 million. El Acuerdo de Asociación Voluntaria (VPA) entre Guyana y la Unión Europea, firmado en junio de 2023, busca reducir la tala ilegal, mejorar la gobernanza forestal y promover el comercio legal de madera. La acción será implementada por el IICA y se centra en establecer el sistema de garantía de legalidad (GTLAS), fortalecer la participación de actores clave y mejorar el intercambio de información.
