Se analizaron las estrategias de vida y las oportunidades y limitaciones que enfrenta un grupo de 64 productores emprendedores del Alto Beni, Bolivia, para poner en marcha iniciativas empresariales. Las fincas, sus plantaciones y la buena reputación de las frutas del Alto Beni de esta zona en el mercado nacional son el principal capital natural de los hogares. Los capitales físico, financiero, humano y social del Alto Beni son bajos. La presencia de organizaciones consolidadas, como la Central de Cooperativas El Ceibo, y el comercio entre los hogares de Alto Beni y sus familiares en La Paz, El Alto y Oruro abren buenas oportunidades para el desarrollo de iniciativas y empresas rurales que aprovechen la riqueza natural de la zona. The livelihood strategies, opportunities and limitations faced by a selected group of 64 innovative farmers in Alto Beni, Bolivia, when starting business initiatives, were analyzed. The farms, their plantations and the good reputation in the national market of fruits from Alto Beni are the main household capitals. The physical, financial, human and social capitals in Alto Beni are low.
