INDUSTRIA FORESTAL SECTOR PRIMARIO MERCADOS ANALISIS DE COSTOS Y BENEFICIOS CONSUMO HONDURAS Tesis (M. Sc) -- CATIE, Turialba (Costa Rica), 1997 La finalidad del presente estudio fue conocer la percepción de la industria primaria ante una posible implementación de sistemas de certificación en Honduras. Se estudiaron 46 aserraderos en los departamentos de Francisco Morazán, Olancho, Yoro, Comayagua, Atlántida y Colón los cuales consumen el 60 por ciento de la madera en rollo y constituyen el 49 por ciento de los aserraderos del país. Entre las instituciones que colaboraron la Corporación Hondureña de Desarrollo Forestal (COHDEFOR) brindó la información de listados actualizados. Las variables participación en mercado internacional, industrias de altos consumo y Producción de madera resultaron tener la mayor influencia sobre el conocimiento de los sistemas de certificación. Las variables mercado nacional, industrias de bajo consumo y Producción fueron las variables de influencia en la aceptación de los sistemas. El análisis estadístico de las variables anteriores abarcó el análisis de frecuencias, Correlación de Spearman, prueba de Chi-Cuadrado, análisis de discriminante canónica y tablas múltiples de correspondencia. Luego se combinaron las variables de interés (conocimiento y aceptación) sobre estos sistemas. Se observó que la tendencia a aceptar el sistema de certificación fue mayor en las empresas pequeñas las cuales vieron el sistema como una apertura potencial del mercado. En forma contraria las empresas caracterizadas como medias a altas consumidoras y productoras de madera y quienes controlan la comercialización de madera en el país y usan su posición dominante como una herramienta de mercado competitiva, tienden a conocer más acerca de la implementación de los sistemas de certificación forestal, pero están menos motivados a implementarlo.
