Sc) -- CATIE, Turrialba (Costa Rica), 2008 Se elaboró el plan de ordenamiento territorial participativo (POTP) para la gestión de zonas potenciales de recarga hídrica en la microregión hidrográfica Balalaica, en Turrialba, Costa Rica. Este estudio fue realizado con participación de actores locales, principalmente ligados a la gestión del recurso hídrico, en cinco comunidades asentadas en la microregión. Se estimó que el 4.25 por ciento del área de la microregión posee un potencial de recarga hídrica muy alto, se determinó también, una condición de alto y muy alto riesgo a deslizamientos en 16.69 por ciento. La microregión se encuentra un 40 por ciento en uso adecuado, 21 por ciento en subuso y 36 por ciento en sobreuso, y con un escenario tendencial, proyectado a 15 años, de disminución del bosque en 3.2 por ciento.La intervención de las acciones comienza por las zonas críticas de recarga hídrica y son los actores locales quienes impulsan el proceso de implementación del POTP, las cuales requieren de fortalecimiento de las capacidades humanas para gestionar el respaldo institucional. The participative territorial zoning plan (PTZP) for the management of potential areas of water recharge, was elaborated at five communities located in the Balalaica microregion, in Turrialba, Costa Rica. This study was conducted with the participation of local stakeholders, mainly linked to the management of water resources. As a result it was estimated that 4.25 percentage of the area of microregion possesses a very high potential, a high condition and very high risk of landslides (16.69 percentage). The microregion has a 40 percentage of the area in a appropriate land use, 21 percentage underused and 36 percentage overused. Also it was estimated that in the next 15 years the forest will diminishing about 3.2 percentage.
