Sc) -- CATIE, Turrialba (Costa Rica), 1998 El objetivo principal de este estudio es desarrollar propuestas preliminares de manejo forestal de plantaciones de Tectona grandis y Bombacopsis quinata que aseguren los mejores rendimientos. Se desarrollaron modelos para las diferentes relaciones entre las variables de estructura y composición de copa, crecimiento y productividad, utilizando información de plantaciones teca y pochote de avanzada edad en Costa Rica. El presente estudio pretende contribuir a la planificación de este manejo, siendo recomendable reforzar los resultados obtenidos con más datos de plantaciones de avanzada edad, en especial con plantaciones de edades mayores a los 20 años. The main objective of this study is to develop preliminary forest management proposals for Tectona grandis and Bombacopsis quinata plantations to ensure high stand productivity. Models were developed for different relationships among the variables, crown composition, crown structure, growth and productivity, using information from advanced aged teak and pochote plantations in Costa Rica. The present study seeks to contribute to management strategies for these species.
