description Twenty fom seven-day-old Jersey bull calves sived by the same bull were divided into six groups. The other three groups received Mix II consisting of 97% powdered skim milk and 3% vitamin mix. One group on each feed served as control for the other two groups receiving respectively 35 and 70 mg. Anreomycin chlortetracycline (AUROFAC). No significant differences in total gains were noted during the 48 days of the experiment Gains on Mix I averaged 32 4 Kg while gains on Mix II, powdered skim, averaged 380 Kg Differences in daily gains were not significant However, daily gains increased as Anvofac levels increased. Body weight of the groups receiving powdered skim increased steadily during the first three weeks, a period which ap-peared to be critical for calves on Mix I Mix 11. powdered skim milk, was utilized more efficiently than Mix 1 (P < 0.05) However, Mix I containing regetable products produced calves a aproximately 80% of the cost of those raised on Mix 11.
