| description | Se describen los efectos del mantillo (mulching) y del riego sobre el desarrollo de las raíces en árboles de 20 años de Coffea arabica L. cultivados en Lyamungu, Tanganyika. La profundidad de penetración de las raíces profundas pivotantes fue disminuida por el riego y aumentada por el mantillo. El desarrollo de las raíces laterales primarias y secundarias fue aumentado por el mantillo, pero los sistemas radicales más grandes se encontraron cuando se combinaron el mantillo con el riego. Se hace un intento de relacionar los cambios en el desarrollo de las raíces con la influencia del mantillo y del riego en las características del suelo. Se discute el significado práctico de un sistema radical modificado. |
